The Juno Awards are named in honour of Pierre Juneau, the first President of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. It is Canada’s music awards to recognize excellence in Canadian musical artists and bands in all aspects of music.
Iconic rocker Bryan Adams is set to be co-hosting along with famous comedian Russell Peters of the 2017 Juno Awards. As part of the ceremonies, New members of Canadian Music Hall of Fame will also be inducted.
Winners will be assessed and chosen by both members of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and a panel of experts. 9 out of 42 awards are only based on sales figures of last year, like Album of the Year or Artist of the Year.CARAS members determined nominees for Single of the Year, Artist and Group of the Year. The nominess of remaining categories are determined by a judge vote. These judges come across the country including males and females speaking both official languages, English and French. They represent all facets of facets of the Canadian music industry.
