The Jacques-Cartier Bridge Illuminates the Sky of Montreal in 2017
For decades, the Jacques Cartier Bridge has been an icon for the Great Montreal area because of its history. As a flagship project forthe celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary and Montreal’s 375th anniversary, the bridge thrills the city with its innovative concept of dynamic illumination.
“Living Connections”, as the lighting project is so called, unveiled on May 17, 2017, the date of Montreal’s founding.
The bridge was installed with LED lights and connected to an intelligent programming, which enables the bridge to change colors to reflect seasons. Day after day, the light can subtly turn from spring green to summer orange, fall red, and winter blue. The color of the light can also alert to suit traffic, mode of the city, and special events.
The bridge is activated to light up every evening after dusk. With a $39.5 million price tag, this unique illumination makes Montreal a destination not to be missed!
